This complex includes a two-story administrative facility and a single-story manufacturing center which together comprise Cornell Iron Works’ corporate headquarters and new manufacturing facility. Contrasting materials – heavily ribbed steel and smooth brushed aluminum panels – speak to the past and future of a progressive 150 year-old metal products manufacturer. The project received an Honor Award for design from the Northeastern Pennsylvania Chapter of the American Institute of Architects in 2002.
The unconventional pairing of heavily ribbed steel wall panels with smooth brushed aluminum panels takes a cue from this company’s strong industrial roots. Project features include a two story entrance lobby, a fitness room, a large cafeteria, locker rooms, and a state-of-the-art computer room.
The manufacturing area accommodates heavy steel fabrication processes for the company’s signature rolling doors and grilles and includes facilities for powder coating.
